Audition Information

Potential dance majors must apply to Marygrove College prior to the audition. The application may be filled out on-line. An audition is required for admittance into the dance program.

At the audition you must provide a photo, resume and one letter of recommendation. Proper dance attire is required. The audition consists of ballet, modern, and jazz dance techniques. Proficiency at the Intermediate level in one or more dance forms is required for entry into the program. At the end of the audition, you will be asked to present your individual talent in a dance solo. Any dance form (i.e. ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, etc.) is acceptable. Please limit your presentation to 3 minutes. A CD/tape player and I-pod adapter are available for your use. Talent Scholarships are awarded at the time of the audition.  

Following the audition, you will meet with the Dance Department Chair and a representative from the Office of Admissions who will be available to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding the dance department, financial aid, housing, etc. Space is limited, please contact the dance office at 313-927-1838 or 313-927-1568 if you plan to attend an audition.

The Dance Department is located on the second floor of the Liberal Arts Building. All Auditions are located in the dance studio LA 211.
